Indian community in Dubai marks 69th Independence Day

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Over 1000 Indian nationals turned up at the Consulate in Dubai to celebrate the country's Independence Day.

Consul General of India Anurag Bhushan hoisted the tricolour at the Indian Consulate in Dubai to mark the country's 69th Independence Day on Saturday August 15.

Indian residents who attended the event and living in Dubai said that they are eagerly awaiting the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. Both children and adults said that they are eagerly waiting to hear his speech. Amit Soni a sales manager said: "He is the pride of our nation."

Bhushan read out a paragraph from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee's speech that was delivered on the eve of Independence Day.

Bhushan said that he was very pleased at the turn out and hoped for Modi's visit to be truly memorable. He praised the efforts of the members of the Indian community in Dubai who are putting a lot of effort to make the ceremony memorable.
