(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Don't ever ask a potential employer in a job interview what salary and perks are on offer, says Qatar University (QU) in an advisory to its fresh graduates.
QU, in one of its periodical bulletins, has asked fresh graduates looking for employment to avoid five common mistakes during job interviews.
Don't ever talk of your plans about pursuing higher studies and if necessary only say that in distant future you could consider doing post-graduation or something like that, the university said. "This is because you never know you may like the job once selected and may continue in it."
Also, don't ever ask the employer whether you would have to work during weekends. Many employers, during interviews, give applicants a chance to ask questions. These queries about salary and perks and weekend work should be avoided.
Instead ask questions that may show you are interested in the job you are being interviewed for.
Always reach the venue of the interview a little before the appointed time and dress practically and in a way that suits the job you have applied for.
Focus on positive things like the fact that you are young and talk of your achievements while in university.
And make it a point to read through the website details about the company you have applied for a job with and know about the nature of the job.
Don't ever say you know everything. These are some of the common mistakes fresh graduates make while appearing for job interviews, QU said in the bulletin, local Arabic daily Al Arab reports.
