Al Zayani meets Saudi Permanent Representative to the UN


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, met at the General Secretariat in Riyadh today with the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York and Chairman of the Advisory Council of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Moallemi, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed efforts in fighting terrorism by the Centre, which was established at the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to fight the extremist terrorist thought in various parts of the world, and the endeavors to raise awareness and education on the dangers posed by terrorism to the societies and the security and stability of States.

They also discussed ways of cooperation between the GCC states and the Center, strengthening the efforts of the GCC States in this area, and the dangers posed by the extremist terrorist organizations to the regional arena.

The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for the efforts being undertaken by the United Nations to activate the role of the United Nations Counter- Terrorism Centre, and its good offices to promote peace and security in different parts of the world.
