Turkey- One soldier killed, 10 troops wounded in scattered PKK attacks
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) One soldier was killed and 10 members of security forces were wounded on Wednesday in Kurdistan Workersآ' Party (PKK) attack in the southeastern province of Diyarbakar, the General Staff said.
PKK militants staged an armed attack on a gendarmerie post in the Sur district at 13.10 p.m. local time with rocket propelled grenades and long-barreled weapons, it added.
One specialized sergeant was killed and 10 soldiers were wounded, along with two armed militants, it noted.
Clashes between security forces and militants that lasted 20 minutes erupted after the attack, according to the statement.
An air-supported operation, with the participation of reinforcements, has also started in order to push back PKK militants.
