Jordan- Foreign minister meets UNRWA Commissioner


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Wednesday, held talks with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner General, Pierre Krahenbuhl on the fiscal deficit of the agency and the potential negative impact on its educational services.

Judeh voiced absolute rejection of any reduction of UNRWA's services extended to refugees as "red line".

He also stressed that Jordan, under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is keen on supporting UNRWA to serve Palestinian refugees in Jordan and other hosting countries.

The minister also outlined Jordan's efforts to urge donor countries to fulfill their obligations towards the agency, pointing out that Jordan has contacted 49 foreign ministers and the UN Secretary General in this regard.

The UNRWA commissioner general commended Jordan's role in supporting the agency, stressing that UNRWA would continue coordination with the Jordanian government to ensure the continuation of the agency's services.
