(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)A 37-year-old Vietnamese maid faced charges on Wednesday for allegedly blackmailing and threatening to blow up an Emirati woman's beauty salon.
The maid allegedly wanted the owner to allow her to take another Vietnamese woman working for the salon and not inform the police. The maid identified as F.L. has also been charged with trespassing into the owner's villa where women who worked in the salon stayed. The salon's owner 43 said in the investigation that she went to the villa after 8.30pm after receiving a call from one of her employees about F.L. being stuck in a room with one of her staff. "A carpenter came and had to break open the door. F.L. began to scream that unless she was allowed to take the other staff with her she would blow up my salon." The owner told her that she could not take one of her employees with her. "I told her I would call the police. She then said that I would see my salon explode" she told the prosecutor. F.L. also called people she knew and threatened the owner by saying that they would come to the villa. As the owner was about to call the police F.L. again threatened her. When the police officers arrived F.L. tried to run away but the police caught her and took her into custody at Al Rashidiyah police station. "We received a complaint about a trespassing and threat incident around 9.20pm. The complainant told us that F.L. wanted to smuggle one of her employees to work for another salon" said a police corporal. The corporal called for women police officers after he saw resistance from F.L. "She was angry and talking on her phone in her own language."
