UAE- Emirates to fly sixth daily A380 to Australia


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Emirates announced its sixth daily A380 service to Australia and second daily service to Singapore. It will upgrade its current service between Dubai and Melbourne via Singapore with the flagship aircraft.

From March 1 2016 the existing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be replaced by A380 providing additional seat capacity on the route. With this upgrade Melbourne will be served twice daily with an Emirates A380.

With the addition of this service Australia will become the third largest A380 destination for Emirates with a total of six daily A380 services from Dubai to four Australian cities. This includes a double daily A380 service to Sydney and Melbourne and a daily A380 to Brisbane and Perth.

Emirates flies the most A380s to the UK with nine daily services from Dubai. The United States comes second.

Emirates partner Qantas also operates two daily A380s between Dubai and Australia. With this upgrade eight of the 13 code-shared flights between Qantas and Emirates to Australia each day will be served by an A380 aircraft.

"Emirates' daily service between Dubai and Melbourne through Singapore has proven a popular choice among travellers. We're pleased to be able to provide additional capacity on this route by upgauging the aircraft to our flagship A380" said Barry Brown Emirates divisional senior vice-president commercial East.

"With 65 A380s in the Emirates fleet serving 35 destinations globally and a further 75 aircraft on order it remains firmly embedded in the future expansion plans for our global network" said Brown.

EK404 will leave Dubai at 9.30am arriving at Singapore Changi Airport at 8.45pm. It then departs Singapore at 10.25pm and arrives at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport at 8.50am the following day.

It returns as EK405 leaving Melbourne at 7pm landing at Singapore Changi Airport at 11.35pm and departing at 1.20am to arrive at Dubai International Airport at 4.50am the same day.
