RTA's app records over 239000 downloads

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)A little over 239000 users have downloaded Wojahati the Road and Transport Authority's smart journey planner app. The number of users downloading the app has shot up to a whooping 228 per cent and it has been updated to suit the needs of tourists using the app.
During the same time last year the app recorded only 72704 downloads. "Enticing more than 239000 persons to download Wojahati App within six months means that the service is achieving customer satisfaction" said Mousa Al Raeesi Director of Transportation Systems RTA. The app was recently updated and it now enables the Metro and bus riders to figure out through their smart phones names of Metro stations through which they pass during their journeys. The Wojahati app saves all information needed by users of public transport (buses metro marine transport tram) be it residents visitors or tourists in the Emirate of Dubai. Such information includes the arrival time of the transit means time needed to arrive at destinations applicable tariff guidance to destination and alerts about potential delays. "The app was also updated to use Arabic on iPhone Android and BlackBerry devices rendering it the first journey planner app ever presented in Arabic language across the world" added Al Raeesi. The user can also obtain information about timetables and distance from any location by pointing the camera of the smart phone to any direction" added Al Raeesi. The app encourages people to use public transport by providing information of the journeys such as routes and timetables. "The new features would contribute to raising public transport ridership and reducing carbon emissions from private vehicles" he said.
