Britain's unemployment rate up 5.6 percent in Q2


(MENAFN) Britain witnessed 25 thousand more unemployed people in 2015's second quarter compared to the same period last year, bringing the total unemployed people to 1.85 million.

Data revealed that in the three months to June, unemployment rate, which stood at 5.6 percent, was better than last year's 6.3 percent.

Those aged from 16 to 64 had an unemployment rate standing at 73.4 percent over this second quarter, hardly improving from first quarter's figures.

However, British employees' overall income improved by 2.8 percent. On the other hand, Claims for unemployment benefit fell by 4,900 to a total of 792,400 in July from the prior month.
