Two Japanese mountaineers die on Swiss Matterhorn peak

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Two Japanese men have been found dead on Matterhorn mountain, Swiss police confirmed Wednesday, saying that
one of them froze to death and the other died after a 100-metre fall, dpa reported.

Both mountaineers had encountered worsening weather conditions on
Saturday as they descended from the 4,478-metre peak on the
Swiss-Italian border.

Fog obstructed search-and-rescue operations, and the man who died
from hypothermia was recovered only on Monday.

On Wednesday, police announced that the second man had been found the
previous evening, some 100 meters below the spot where his climbing
partner had died.
