'Govt Keen On Harnessing Energy Of Kuwait's Youths'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ministry of Youth Affairs is keen on cultivating the energy of the youth in Kuwait, providing them with means to develop themselves on all possible levels, said an official here Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion of the International Youth Day which will be celebrated tomorrow, official at the Ministry of Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi told KUNA that the ministry had launched and also collaborated with other state institutes on several programs to serve the youth in Kuwait. The ministry launched recently the "Kuwait is listening" project which aimed at answering the youth's needs.

The ministry also worked with the ministry of education and cooperative societies in launching several youth oriented programs, said Al-Mutairs who noted that one of the programs provided some 150,000 youth with 108 sports fields at a minimum price. The ministry also provided support to youth on various fields including launching small-businesses, financing artistic ventures, and more, said Al-Mutairi.

He indicated that the ministry was also keen on combating violence amongst youth, noting that recent programs had led to the decrease of violence in schools and the increase in academic achievements. The International Youth Day is a UN designated event aimed at highlighting youth issues.
