US- Mississippi couple charged with attempt to join ISIL


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A couple in Mississippi was arrested over the weekend for allegedly attempting to provide support ISIL, according to the Department of Justice on Tuesday.
In the criminal complaint, Jaelyn Young, 20, and Muhammad Dakhlalla, 22, went under investigation in May when the defendants expressed desire to travel to Syria to join ISIL and made supportive statements about the terrorist group.
Both procured passports and made arrangements to fly to Istanbul via Amsterdam. In August, Young and Dakhlalla traveled to an airport in Mississippi where they were arrested, interviewed, and confessed.
The maximum charge in the complaint carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of USD 250,000.
