Lebanon calls for immediate end to Israeli violations of its sovereignty

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Lebanon on Tuesday called for an immediate end to Israeli violations of its sovereignty, in light of recent increases in the number of violations.
In a press statement following a joint Lebanese and Israeli army meeting, Beirut called for a swift halt to Israeli violations of its territory after intrusions into Lebanon's northern and eastern borders have been reported.
The Lebanese delegation cited recent Israeli aerial intrusions, revealing that two Israeli surveillance helicopters had crashed in the northern city of Tripoli. Cases of maritime and land intrusions were also reported by the Lebanese side.
Moreover, Beirut also stressed the need of addressing civilian casualties as well as increasing security presence in areas that bear the brunt of these violations, underscoring the importance of enforcing the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which called for a zone free of armed personnel besides the Lebanese army.
Israel has committed multiple and severe violations of Lebanese sovereignty, which plunged the two countries into war in the summer of 2006.
