'5 women trap employer with molestation allegations'

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Five women gave false testimonies against their employer accusing him of molesting them a Dubai court has heard. The five Filipinas faced a charge of perjury in the Court of First Instance on Tuesday.

The women who work in a beauty parlour are accused of giving false information under oath in front of the public prosecution in two incidents of molestation and inciting sin.

The case dates back to May 12.

A 36-year-old Filipina who is in charge of the beauty parlour said in the investigation she was "surprised" to learn about a case being filed against their employer. "I have been working for him since 11 years. I was on annual leave (when the case was filed)."

She said the employer was a good man and used to help everyone. "He had helped one of the accused settle her medical bill" she told the prosecutor.

She said the employer had never flirted with her and the female staff had never complained about him before.

"The complainants' claims were fabricated as they wanted to go back to their home (country). Before I went on leave I had told them to wait for me to return."

The witness said another accused has tuberculosis and tampered with medical documents back home to come to the UAE. "However once she got here she realised she would get caught as she would need to undergo a medical test. She levelled accusations against our employer so that she could go back home."

All the defendants reportedly admitted to the perjury charge in the public prosecution investigation.

The court will pronounce a verdict on August 18.
