(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: Former champion Saudi Hollandi Bank posted a 340 win points to grab Team of the Week honors during the 5th week of Interbank Tenpin Bowling League in Riyadh.
Taking advantage as the bye team SHB recorded a 4-0 win to emerge the week's best. The effective approach applied by team captain Greg Antonio in manpower maneuvering was key to victory. Veteran Clem Salazar was the highest scorer on four-game series of 715. He was supported by Cholo Nieto Arnel Bernabe and Rommel Calungcagin who tallied 594 548 and 547 in three games while Antonio Gil Hembra and Eckart Gayeta rolled 395 351 and 339. Val Baraquio had 186.
Alinma Bank Aspire captained by Jojo de Silva retained the top spot for two successive weeks after a 2-2 draw against SAIB on 240-160 points. Most improved bowler Koko Torres bested everyone else and took home the Bowler of the Week accolade on 863 (247 224 178 and 214) while at the helm of Aspire. Complementing Torres were Angel Train (788) Willie Bondoc (697) and Nayef Al Saud (697). Jerry Barce rolled 312 in two games while Rainier Torres had 125.
Veteran Joey Salem powered to a 813 to lead SAIB. He was assisted by Edwin Fontiveros on 681 while Jonathan Avenido and Gil Catulay tallied 584 584. Julius Queypo and captain Eddison Austria rolled 321 and 304 while Ric Cura and Oliver Apostol had 139 and 112.
The match between the defending champion Riyad Bank and SABB ended in a draw 2-all (260-100) but it was the latter that edged its opponent with 160 bonus points. The foursome of Arnold Jesena Mohammed Abu Al Saud Gerry Austria and Jaffer Al Kathiri fired their best shots with 786 736 703 and 697 while team captain Ahmed Qarquosh and Luis Bonguit tallied 397 and 371.
RB never recovered from previous losses and settled for 5th position after 5 weeks of play. The five-man team was led by Freddie Solomon who tallied 758 followed by Ric Singson (712) Ronald Cruz (693) Sony Alviso (667) and James Frizzle (632).
Banque Saudi Fransi defeated Alinma United in three games 240-110. Dawood Sereno inspired his teammates with 815 four-game series. Team captain Jun Bantug Noel Morales and Edwin Timango rolled 762 739 and 676 in that order in support of Sereno. Angel Diaz tallied 464 while Yusuf Fernandez added 166.
