EU oks USD2.6b fund to face migrant crisis


(MENAFN) The European Union announced that it has approved to new funding of USD2.6 billion to help member states over the next few years to cope with the migrant crisis they faced.

EU officials said the fund will help frontline states, like Italy and debt-laddered Greece which already faces a hard time to cope, to build reception centers and integrate migrants.

"We are now able to disburse funding. It will provide crucial support to frontline member states," a spokeswoman for the European Commission told a press conference.

Spain will receive USD572.56 million, Sweden USD168.98 million, Hungary USD67.37 million, Cyprus USD81.19 million, Austria USD29 million, Finland USD58 million and Ireland USD10.09 million.
