UAE- QCC launches tyre inspection campaign

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, QCC, has launched an inspection campaign that will run until August 20th to check the fitness of vehicle tyres in an effort to ensure the safety of car owners and road users.

The campaign aims to curb road accidents associated with worn-out tyres, as blowouts are considered a major cause of traffic accidents in the UAE, especially during the summer months.

As part of the campaign, QCC inspectors will check the fitness of new and re-treaded tyres traded in the Abu Dhabi market, and inspect their compliance with relevant technical standards and safety requirements.

Mohammed Helal Al Balooshi, Marketing and Communications Director at the QCC, said, "The tyre inspection campaign articulates QCC's priority to prevent accidents caused by flawed and substandard tyres that are prone to bursting at high temperatures. In following such stringent norms, QCC aims to ensure that the highest safety measures are followed in the storage and handling of tyres traded in Abu Dhabi markets."

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of the emirate's exports and locally traded products, while protecting the interest of consumers and supporting the UAE's competitive economy. This is achieved through empowering regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards.
