RAK Courts registered 106 marriages in June

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah saw the highest jump in marriages in June this year.

Judicial reports show that the RAK Courts registered 106 marriage contracts in June this year as compared to 175 recorded in the first six months of 2015. Out of these 82 marriage contracts were of UAE nationals.

Many of the most common family disputes have disappeared as well according to Jassim Al Makki Head of the Family Counselling Section RAK Courts. "This is mainly due to growing family awareness."

As per official figures 60 Emirati men and women tied the knot in June. "These are added to 19 marriages between Emirati men and expatriate women three between UAE women and expatriate men and 24 involving foreigners."

Adding Makki said his well-trained staff counsellors reported a significant drop in the most common family disputes such as husband staying away from home for a long time and interference of relatives.

"Couples are now more aware of family issues and how to amicably settle their disputes without going to courts keeping in mind the negative impact of separation."

Nonetheless husbands' failure to financially support their families tops the list for litigation among divorced men and women he indicated.

Makki said that accommodation-related litigation cases have decreased while the cases that were amicably settled have gone up. He said: "Over 100 couples have withdrawn their divorce cases and agreed to end their disputes in an amicable way."

Elaborating he said among the many reasons blamed for family litigation disputes on children custody lack of harmony and dialogue wife's obsession with lies as well as addiction to chatting and smart devices were on top of the list.

Makki said family disputes and even divorce cases were on the rise among young couples he noted. "Parents should be involved in a way that diffuses litigations at the very beginning and enlighten their children about the importance of marriage."
