(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab League on Monday condemned Israel for building a nightclub on the historical Mamilla Cemetery in Jerusalem.
Practices by the Israeli occupation authorities are part of a policy of discrimination and ethnic cleansing seeking to obliterate the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of Jerusalem, the Palestine and Arab occupied territories sector at the League said in a statement on Monday.
It added that the Mamilla Cemetery enjoys wide respect by Muslims and Christians, in Palestine and the world.
The statement held the Israeli government, the Jerusalem Municipality and that carried out the project fully responsible for the encroachment on the 1,400-year-old cemetery which was earlier seized to build the "Museum of Tolerance." It also urged the international community and organizations, especially UNESCO, to intervene and stop that "heinous crime" and the Israeli plans to judaize the Holy City.
