Kuwait- Fencer Bander In Historic Feat


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Rising Kuwaiti star and Asian sabre fencing champion Bander Al-Shamlan accomplished an unprecedented and historic feat in the country and the region by moving up the ladder to occupy the sixth position in the youth category, according to the International Fencing Federation for 2015/2016 sporting year ranking.

Bander was also third in Asia while his brother Yousef Al-Shamlan moved up to the 13th position globally. This is the first time for a Kuwaiti player to reach such an enviable global position in fencing. The 18-year-old Bander garnered 74 points to secure the sixth spot, and his 17-year-old brother, Yousef, got 51 points in his latest ranking.
