Kuwait- KGAC To Work On 'Facilitating' Customs, Trade Measures: Saif


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Director General of Kuwait General Administration of Customs Khaled Al-Saif reiterated here on Monday the importance of cooperation with the World Bank's experts to develop the administration in line with the state's eagerness to facilitate customs and trade measures with a new approach that is more inclusive.

Al-Saif said, in a press statement following the opening of a workshop entitled (Development of a Medium- Term Action Plan to the General Administration of Customs) in collaboration with the World Bank, that the move supports the government's policies to promote competitiveness, attract foreign investment and diversify sources of income in the medium and long term.

Vision

He said the General Administration of Customs has the perception and full vision for the development of the apparatus in accordance with international standards, pointing out that the move aims to implement an integrated project of the World Bank for the development of the General Administration of Customs through the activation of partnership with all sectors. He said that the three-day workshop is the first step towards the implementation of the recommendations of the World Customs Organization experts in the 2nd diagnostic program for the (Columbus) program and the diagnostic recommendations of the General Administration of Customs.

For his part, Director of the World Bank office in Kuwait, Dr. Firas Raad said in a similar statement that the customs system is an important tool of public sector instruments in the world for the development of institutional and economic development and to achieving the Millennium Development efforts to achieve common prosperity and eradicate extreme poverty by 2030. He said that the development and modernization of the customs system operation goes in line with the vision of His Highness the Amir to turn Kuwait into a commercial and financial center in the region and the entire world.
