Jordan- House speaker receives EU envoy


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Lower House Speaker , Atif Tarawneh, Monday received the European Union Ambassador, Joanna Wronecka, who has concluded her tenure in Jordan.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the strong bilateral relations at all levels, especially parliamentary and economic ties.

Also, Tarawneh praised the support provided by the EU to the Kingdom, noting that Jordan is struggling to respond to the wave of refugees, mainly Syrian refugees, who are placing an increasing pressure on the economic, security, social and political situation in Jordan.

Moreover, he pointed out that the House has an ambitious programs in terms of adopting legislation governing the reform process, as the House completed a number of legislation that would strengthen this process.

For her part, Wronecka said that the EU is interested in building cooperative relations with Jordan in various fields, as the Kingdom has become a privileged partner of the EU.

She also highlighted the role played by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II towards various issues of the region, especially hosting refugees, voicing the importance of supporting Jordan to continue its mission in this regard.
