Turkey tighten security around US diplomatic missions


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Turkey announced Monday that security measures around US diplomatic missions in the country have been intensified and tightened following recent attacks that targeted US Consulate in Istanbul.
Police with automatic rifles cordoned off streets around the US Consulate in the Sariyer district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement, reiterating the country's determination to combat terrorism firmly in cooperation and solidarity with Washington and NATO allies.
Earlier, Two women attacked the US Consulate building in Sariyer by opening fire at the building, engaging security forces in a firefight before fleeing the scene.
The far-left Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) claimed its responsibility for the attack, vowing to continue launching further attacks until the country is liberated from US bases.
