Two attackers open fire on US consulate in Istanbul


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Two attackers opened fire on the U.S. consulate building in Istanbul on August 10 and fled when police shot back, broadcaster CNNTürk said.

Doğan News Agency reported those involved in the attack on the building in Istanbul's Sarıyer district included one man and one woman. The woman was apprehended at a house she took refuge in.

CNNTürk said there were no casualties.

"We're still working to find out what's going on," a spokesman for the US embassy in Ankara told AFP.

The US Consulate in Istanbul announced on its Twitter page that the consulate will be closed to the public until further notice.
