Oman awards USDS100m STP to 3 firms

(MENAFN) Much of Muscat has been connected to a world-class sewerage collection system for quite some time now, and with the rising of homes and commercial buildings connected to the wastewater network, a major contract was set to build the only sewage treatment plant (STP) in the city.

As of now, three firms are in bid to design, build, and operate the Tanker STP at Misfah, estimated to cost around USD100 million. The firms include Spanish-based global integrated water technology specialist Abeima, SUEZ Environment and CCC, and India-based multinational firm VA Tech Wabag Ltd.

Haya Water, Oman Wastewater Services Company, is already participating by building a sewerage collection covering much of Muscat, and the project's goal as stated by its GM is to divert what's left of bowser-based sewage collection services to a facility operating on the outer limits of the city.
