Kuwait- Envoys Hail Islamic Art Exhibition


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Ambassadors and heads of Islamic centers visited the Art of the Kuwait-organized Islamic Civilization exhibition in Rome in response to an invitation from Ambassador Sheikh Jaber Al- Khaled Al-Sabah, stressing its importance for building bridges of cultural interaction among diverse civilizations.

At the end of this private visit, organized by the Kuwaiti embassy, to the exhibition venue, "Scuderia del Quirinale" museum, the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions and Islamic centers in Italy praised "the outstanding initiative, which emphasizes Kuwait's role in sponsoring culture and highlights the deep impact of Islam on the march of human civilizations." Iraqi Ambassador Sirwan Barzani, in remarks to KUNA, praised this "cultural event which has been held in the heart of Rome at a time when the Islamic world needs to show its true side and bright civilization."

Head of the Libyan mission to the Vatican Mustafa Al-Rujaian expressed deep appreciation for the wonderful exhibition which depicts development of art in the Islamic civilization and its ability to absorb other creative arts. Egypt's Ambassador Amr Helmy confirmed its success in promoting various aspects of the Islamic civilization throughout history and its achievements which contributed to enrichment and development of modern Western civilization. Qatar's Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Ahmad Al-Maliki Al-Juhani thanked Kuwait's Ambassador Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled Al-Sabah for his initiative, gathering ambassadors, figures and representatives of Islamic countries at this rich exhibition of beautiful Islamic antiques from Al-Sabah's collection.

The Islamic Art exhibition "is a testament to what we have in the history, an ancient civilization and a rich culture as well its impact on Western civilization," he said. Jordanian Ambassador Zeid Lozi appreciated the Kuwaiti ambassador's efforts and thanked the State of Kuwait and Dar al- Athar al-Islamiyyah's efforts at this level. Director of the Egyptian Academy in Rome Dr. Jehan Zaki expressed admiration for the elegance, presentation style and careful selection of art pieces in the exhibition in Rome, a city distinguished with art and civilization.

She praised the unprecedented Kuwaiti initiative, as a great addition to the cultural communication efforts to highlight the civic image of Islam. Imam of the Islamic Center Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar said the exhibition is evidence that the Islamic civilization formed an integral part of the march of humanity, stressing on its great importance in highlighting tolerance and creativity. Visitors and ambassadors expressed appreciation for the efforts of the State of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti Ambassador in protection of the Islamic heritage and boosting dialogue with other civilizations.

Kuwait's Ambassador Sheikh Ali Al- Khaled expressed special gratitude for Minister of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Nasser Al- Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for his effort in collecting thousands of antiques, unmatched in cultural wealth of the Islamic heritage He also thanked Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Head of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al- Sabah and General Supervisor of Dar Al- Athar Al-Islamiyyah (DAI) Sheikha Hussah Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah for holding this cultural event which was inaugurated by Italian President Sergio Matarilla on July 24.
