Qatar- Awareness day held for Dhreima inmates


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in collaboration with Qatar Orphan Foundation (Dhreima), organised an awareness programme as part of summer activities for Dhreima's orphans and employees.

The aim was to spread awareness among young people about their rights as consumers and educate them through simple and interactive methods.

During the awareness day, the ministry gave a presentation on its role and duties to protect consumers' rights, and highlighted its booklet Read, Compare, Decide to educate young consumers on good shopping habits such as reading product specifications, determining its benefits and harmful effects, price, quality, and making the right decision.

The presentation also covered young consumers' rights to know specifications and standards of products, to be provided with health and safety guidelines, to live in hazard-free environment, freely express opinions and be taken into consideration to fulfil their basic needs, to knowledge, education, and fair compensation for damaged products or unsatisfactory services.

It also highlighted young consumers' duties such as rationalisation of purchases, compatibility of their shopping habits with their income, awareness of misleading promotions and advertisements, necessity for reading product labels, enquiry about refund and exchanging policies, examination of product quality and production and expiry dates. It was part of the ministry's efforts to enhance consumer awareness and protect rights.
