Saudi- Asir bomber was arrested in past freed for lack of proof

(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: More details have emerged on the identity of the perpetrator of Thursday's suicide bombing at the Special Emergency Forces Mosque in Asir. The bomber identified as 21-year-old Yousef bin Sulaiman Abdullah Al-Sulaiman had been arrested for harboring deviant ideology.

Yousef was a beneficiary of the rehabilitation center at the Al-Hair prison in Riyadh after his arrest two years ago on suspicion of having 'deviant thoughts' and support for Daesh. The bomber was held for 45 days before he was released because of lack of proof against him.
He hailed from Sakaka in Al-Jouf and never traveled outside the country. He was not on the most wanted list released by the security agencies.
He was influenced by deviant thoughts after he posted a 'dua' on his Instagram account asking people to pray for his 'new life.'
It is believed that he adopted a deviant approach at the end of 2014 and joined Daesh after being influenced by some of the social media websites linked with the terrorist organization. These websites published the audio clip of his will and his photograph before he carried out the attack.
Security sources also revealed that they are continuing investigations into the blast and for more details. They are also trying to uncover the financers and supporters of the terrorist act.
