UAE- Friends for life and in death

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)They were friends for life and they died together said a relative of one of the two Emirati soldiers who died on Friday while fighting in Yemen as part of the Saudi Arabia-led Operation Restoring Hope.

"They were pals for life... they worked and died together" Abdul Qadir Abdullah Ali Al Shehhi the maternal uncle of First Corporal Khalid Mohammed Abdullah Al Shehhi told Al Khaleej newspaper while referring to Khalid's friend First Corporal Fahim Saeed Ahmed Al Habsi. Both were from the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Khalid Al Shehhi 35 had joined the UAE Armed Forces in 1998. He is survived by his wife a four-year-old daughter Mariam and three-year-old son Mohammed said Abdul Qadir.

He said that Khalid's mother deserved to be called the mother of martyrs since four of her sons had drowned in the 1970's. He added that Khalid had died to complete that covenant of honour. He also said that his mother was proud that Khalid sacrificed his life for his country and protecting the region.

Brothers relatives and neighbours of martyr First Corporal Fahim Al Habsi said that though the loss was irreparable he had sacrificed his life for the country and they were proud of him. Al Habsi got married in 2004 and is survived by five children.

The family of the third martyr Juma Jawhar Al Hammadi 31 said they were preparing for his second wedding scheduled for his next vacation.

The three died while travelling in an armoured vehicle which exploded after hitting a landmine.

A total of six Emiratis have died in the Yemen operation. In July non-commissioned officer Seif Youssef Ahmed Al Falasi and Lieutenant Abdul Aziz Sarhan Al Kaabi were killed in Yemen. Non-commissioned officer Hazim Obaid Al Ali was killed during an exercise in Saudi Arabia in June.

Operation Restoring Hope is being carried out by the Arab coalition to back the people and legitimate government of Yemen.
