China's foreign trade down 7.3 percent in 7M


(MENAFN) Official data showed that China's foreign trade dropped 7.3 percent in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period a year ago, reaching USD2.23 trillion.

According to the General Administration of Customs (GAC), exports edged down by 0.9 percent from a year ago to USD1.24 trillion, while imports slumped by 14.6 percent to USD945.38 billion.

Meanwhile, the world's second-largest economy's trade surplus doubled to hit USD300.66 billion in the January-July period. The trade surplus in July dropped 10 percent to USD42.28 billion.

In July, foreign trade declined by 8.8 percent on-year to USD340.85 billion, with exports declining by 8.9 percent to USD191.33 billion and imports dropping 8.6 percent to USD149.55 billion.
