Policeman killed, 3 others injured in southeast Turkey


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A Turkish police officer was killed and three others were injured in an attack on an armored police vehicle in southeastern Sirnak province on Friday night, police said.

According to security forces, a group was holding an "illegal protest" in Nur and Cudi neighborhoods in Cizre district. When police intervened with tear gas to disperse the protest, it came under attack by a rocket launcher.

Officer Salih Huseyin, 22, was killed when his armored vehicle was targeted.

Three other policemen were also injured in the incident and were rushed to Cizre State Hospital.

Security forces have launched an operation in the region to nab the attackers.
