Riyadh, Moscow to hold talks next Tues. on developments in Gulf region

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Saudi-Russia talks scheduled for next Tuesday in the Russian capital will discuss developments in the Gulf region in light of the nuclear agreement reached last month between Iran and the six world powers, Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement late Saturday.
The talks will be held between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Saudi counterpart Adel Al-Jubeir, it added, noting that Russia will work on consolidating security and stability in the Gulf region.
The two sides will exchange views on the Russian initiative aiming to form an international coalition to combat the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), it said.
They also will focus on the developments in the conflict-stricken Yemen, the statement said, expressing sorrow that the efforts of the international community failed to stop fighting in that Arab country and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis who suffer from a humanitarian disaster.
Situations in Libya and Iraq, and bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism will be the focus of the talks between the two officials.
The statement stressed that the talks will consider ways to implement agreements made during the visit of Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Defense Minister.
