(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The organisers of Qatar Summer Festival have announced the winners of the event's first weekly raffle with 10 men and women from different nationalities bagging as many enviable prizes.
The top prize is the super luxury BMW 7 Series and the winner is Radhakrishna Pillai.
The winner of Mini Cooper car is Youssef Salem Jassim, while two cash prizes of QR50,000 each have been won by Mohammed Nour and Abdullah Hamad Al Hajeri.
Another two prizes of QR25,000 each have gone to Ara Artin and Leah Pelenio and four prizes of QR10,000 each to Hassan Mohamed N M, Sheikha Mohamed, Mohamed Ali and Sima Lucian Marian.
The raffle draw was held at Ezdan Mall on Thursday.
Besides, nine shoppers were given away gift vouchers worth up to QR5,000.
The organisers of the festival said in a statement that next week's raffle draw will be held at The Mall. Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is holding the festival during which hotels are offering special rates and top brands making special offers to attract a large number of visitors, particularly from overseas and neighbouring countries.
This is the second Summer Festival. Last year, the festival had attracted some 77,000 visitors in the first three weeks of the six-week event.
This year, QTA expects the visitor numbers to be at least 10 percent more. More visitors are particularly expected from the neighbouring GCC states.
A highlight of this year's event is an Entertainment City, a one-stop for family entertainment at Doha Exhibition Centre.
As part of the event, special activities, particularly innovative ones, are being held specially for children and include skate boarding, rock climbing spaces, crafts, games and stage shows.
The hall is filled with rides, video games, play areas, a customised shopping area and a food court.
Daily stage shows are held in the afternoons until late evenings. The festival ends on August 31.
