(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Oman Bowling Committee (OBC) will host the ninth GCC Youth and the second GCC Junior Bowling Championships in Muscat from August 6-15.
Said al Qatabi the OBC chairman said on Tuesday that the tournament will feature a total of 48 bowlers from all six GCC nations. The action will take place at the Oman Bowling Centre with Oman hosting the two events for the first time.

Qatabi said 'Oman had hosted the GCC Men's Championship in 2013 and the successful hosting of the event led to the GCC committee award the youth event to us during a GCC meeting held on the sidelines that year. We are ready to host it and hope to make it a memorable one.'
He added 'The idea to host the tournament is to encourage our youth and junior players. We are a new entrant in bowling while the other teams in the region have been running youth and junior teams for many years. It will be a debut for our junior and youth teams and we want to show our players' and organisational abilities to the established bowling nations.'
In the competition which will be supported by Zubair Corporation the teams will nominate four bowlers each in the youth and junior categories.
Junior team:
Mohannad al Busaidi Abdullah al Masroori Issa al Jawhari Mohammed al Jawhari; reserves: Hussam al Balushi Mohiman al Hadidi.
Youth team:
Hassan al Kharusi Minhal al Lawatia Imad al Rawahi Hassan al Azri; reserves: Ali al Zakwani Azwar al Hadidi. Coach: Nasser al Hattali; manager: Abdulrehman al Balushi.
