Eurozone's retail trade volume down 0.6 percent in June


(MENAFN) According to the statistical office of the EU (Eurostat), the retail trade volume in the eurozone declined by 0.6 percent in June compared to the previous months of the year.

In the 28-member EU, the retail sales index also dropped by 0.5 percent in June compared to a month earlier. Annually, retail trade volume rose 1.2 percent in the eurozone and 2 percent in the EU.

Among EU member states, the biggest decline in total retail trade was seen in Germany, dropping 2.3 percent, while the largest increase was in Romania, rising by 1.7 percent.

In the 28-member EU, retail trade decreased in June due to falls of 0.6 percent for food, drinks and tobacco; 0.4 percent for automotive fuel and 0.1 percent for non-food products.
