Qatar- Ooredoo enhances fixed line services

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Ooredoo has enhanced stability and availability of voice services delivered to fixed line customers with an overhaul of its Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) infrastructure via an Infoblox solution.

This is the first phase of upgrade of Ooredoo Fibre service and will be expanded to deliver better quality of service for IPTV and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) customers.

Waleed Al Sayed, COO, Ooredoo Qatar, said: "Ooredoo continues to deploy solutions that enable us to offer customers the best in fixed line services, as we continue to position Qatar as one of the best-connected countries in the world.

"By implementing Infoblox DHCP solution, we're integrating another key solution into our infrastructure so that we can continue to deliver the best customer experience."

Stability, security, scalability and proactive local support were identified as key criteria for the solution. The company also recognised it as an opportunity to address consolidation.

Infoblox DHCP servers were deployed at two sites in load-balancing mode over two weeks. As each server is capable of generating 1,020 IP addresses per second, this upgraded performance and the servers added robustness and guaranteed high availability.

The carrier-grade solution meets Ooredoo's performance and scalability requirements.

Having only two servers as opposed to a distributed set-up has eliminated maintenance challenges Ooredoo's operations team used to face.

Thanks to comprehensive management and reporting tools, the team has access to knowledge that aids compliance, troubleshooting, and planning. They can easily generate reports with vast amounts of usage statistics to understand and pre-empt trends and make modifications to the network as necessary.
