Dubai - Marking the eleventh death anniversary of the founding father of the UAE the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan the Bait Al Khair Society has launched an all new initiative for the benefit of elderly Emiratis.
Geared up to commemorate the Zayed Humanitarian Day the society today has launched the drive valued at Dh5 million.
As per the leading initiative themed ‘As they grew me up when I was a baby’ around 600 aged Emiratis will receive all-inclusive care from the 26-year-old charity association in collaboration with partners sponsors and philanthropists here.
Thorough home-based medical care and check-ups and permanent attendants will be provided to the listed elderly Emiratis to ease their suffering according to a top official.
Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi Executive Manager Bait Al Khair Society told Khaleej Times that all attendants mostly women will be trained enough to be able to look after the eligible senior citizens.
“Most of the elderly people registered with the Bait Al Khair Society suffer from diabetes blood pressure and Alzheimer and hence need special medical care.”
Saeed Mubarak Al Mazrouie Deputy Executive Manager said Bait Al Khair Society meanwhile plans to spend about Dh95 million this Ramadan to bring happiness to low income families widows orphans and patients. “These are Dh11 million more as compared to the Dh84 million spent last Ramadan.”
Al Awadhi said the society has spent Dh1.1 billion in the last 25 years on local charity programmes and activities in the emirates of Dubai Ajman Umm Al Quwain Ras Al Khaimah Fujairah as well as the central and eastern regions of Sharjah.
Halima Al Dhankhani acting manager of charity projects at Bait Al Khair Society said they will pay regular visits to check on the senior citizens’ health will take care of all their needs and if required will repair and refurbish their houses.
“We will also lecture their family members and attendants on how to properly take care of them and fulfil their needs...and celebrate holidays and national days with them.”
Urging collaboration Al Mazrouie said gracious donors are invited to support this pioneering project to help protect the dignity of the elderly Emiratis on this occasion of the Shaikh Zayed Humanitarian Day.
“Shaikh Zayed’s spirit will be alive and immortal in the memory of the nation and the hearts and souls of Arab and Islamic countries. The late Shaikh Zayed devoted his life to serve his country his people Arab and Islamic countries and to humanity as a whole.”
