Spanish jobless claims fall by 74,000 in July


(MENAFN- FxPro) The number of unemployed people in Spain fell more than expected in July, easing concerns over the health of the euro zone's fourth largest economy, official data showed on Tuesday.

In a report, Spain's Employment Ministry said the number of unemployed people declined by a seasonally adjusted 74,000 last month, compared to expectations for a drop of 45,600. The number of unemployed people fell by 94,700 in June.

EUR/USD was trading at 1.0956 from around 1.0957 ahead of the release of the data, while EUR/GBP was at 0.7024 from 0.7022 earlier.
Meanwhile, European stock markets were modestly higher after the open. Spain's IBEX 35 tacked on 0.75%, the EURO STOXX 50 rose 0.95%, France's CAC 40 inched up 0.75%, Germany's DAX jumped 1.2%, while London's FTSE 100 dipped 0.1%.
