Death toll rises in Myanmar flooding to 13 people


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Recent floods killed at least 13 people in western Myanmar's Rakhine State and displaced thousands of families, dpa cited an official as saying Monday.

'Thirteen dead were officially reported in five townships' of the
state, said Ko Ko Kyaw from the Myanmar Red Cross Society.

Weeks of heavy rain left at least 47 people dead and damaged more
than 524,000 acres of farmland in 12 other states, government
officials said Sunday.

The UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has also
warned the death toll is expected to be rise.
