Ssangyong South Korea's sales up 1.1 percent in July

(MENAFN) Ssangyong Motor Co., South Korea's unit of Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said its sales surged 1.1 percent in July as cruising sales at home offset plunging shipments abroad.

Ssangyong Motor's sales reached 11,813 units last month, up from the 11,684 a year earlier, the automaker said. The figures do not include complete knockdown kits that are shipped overseas for assembly.

The automaker's exports dropped 36.3 percent on-year to 3,603 units, while sales in South Korea jumped 36.2 percent to 8,210 units, driven by strong orders for its Tivoli sport utility vehicle.

Meanwhile, cumulative sales for the first seven months of the current year stood at 81,391 units, marking a decline of 4.9 percent from a year earlier, according to Ssangyong.
