Kuwait- Festival Promotes Love For Country, Culture, Heritage


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah inaugurated Saturday evening the 17th edition of the children and pre-teens cultural festival at Abdulaziz Hussein Cultural Center in Mishref.

Children festival plays a significant role in fostering love for national traditions and heritage and consequently infatuation with the country and its culture, Sheikh Salman, also President of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), said on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony. He added that such kind of cultural festivals show the State's interest in caring for children and pre-teens who will make its future.

The festival, organized through cooperation between the NCCAL and Dhuwa Al- Yaddah Center, features a wide-array of activities aiming to help children and preteens acquire new skills and sharpen the ones they have. This event materializes the state's strategy of enhancing partnership between the public and private sectors to serve the society, the minister said. The 13-day event also includes lectures in history, environment protection, healthy lifestyles and reading, drawing, music playing and sculpturing skills.

Moreover, the event also hosts various entertainment activities and competitions. For his part, Chairman of Dhuwa Al-Yaddah Center Abdulmohsen Al-Sane pointed out that the festival is an attempt to help children and teens make use of the summer holiday in learning new skills through over 24 artistic, cultural and craftsmanship workshops. A photo exhibition is held on the sidelines of the festival showcasing an impressive collection of photos documenting Kuwait's history, environment and modern renaissance.
