Kuwait- MPs Mount Pressure On Govt To Set Up Policy For Fighting Terror

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The MPs continue to mount pressure on the government to contribute in setting up security policies for fighting terrorism after MP Faisal Al- Duweisan obliged the government to come up with the relevant decree for adopting his proposal related to anti terrorism law and incrimination of Kuwaitis who fight outside the country, noting he had personally presented the two proposals in late 2014, reports Al-Nahar daily.

Al-Duweisan added the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al- Khalid will be gratified as he made mention of legislative 'shortcuts' in the fight against terrorism, which is quite different from the law approved in 2012 on money laundering and the financing of terrorism. He added the government can present draft law at the start of the upcoming parliamentary term if it cannot approve the proposed decree, taking into account all legislative proposals have a common objective to protect Kuwait from the inside.

Meanwhile, MP Mansour Al-Zafari said the National Assembly is fully prepared to cooperate with the Minister of Interior and relevant authorities if any legislation is approved to fill up the legislative emptiness to facilitate the pursuance and arrest of criminals and terrorist cells. Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers will continue the discussion of some important files related to security during its session on Monday. An inclusive discussion of DNA Law had taken place in the previous session, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily quoting sources added the Cabinet will discuss necessary budget for the implementation of the law following the decision to refer it to concerned authorities for more study due to its sensitive nature and importance. Sources urged both government and Parliament to reach a point of agreement based on the current regional security situation that requires necessary legislation to guarantee national security and stability.
