Honda Q2 profit hits USD1.5b

(MENAFN) Honda's net profit, from April to June 2015, increased almost 20 percent reaching USD1.5 billion, as a result of strong sales in North America.

The Japanese automaker profit came to USD1.5 in the second quarter, growing from USD1.2 billion recorded in the same quarter year earlier.

The company's sales jumped 15.5 percent to USD29.8 billion. Operating profit rose 16.4 percent, as a strong drop in Japan's currency benefits exporters.

"In general, the Japanese auto sector has continued to enjoy the positive impact of a weak yen," said analyst at Rakuten Securities in Tokyo.
