31 civilians killed in multiple Syrian regime attacks

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Thirty one civilians, among them three children, were killed Thursday in attacks carried out by Syrian regime forces on opposition-controlled areas throughout the country.

According to the Syrian Human Rights Network, the regime launched ground and air attacks targeting areas under the control of the opposition throughout the country, using warplanes and various heavy weapons.

The network added that the attacks have killed seven people in Homs, six in Deraa, six in Idlib, five in Hama, four in Deir al-Zour, two in Damascus and one in Lattakia.

Since 2011, the Syrian opposition has called for the end of more than 44 years of Assad family rule and the establishment of a democratic state.

The Syrian regime cracked down heavily on protesters, which dragged the country into violence and bloody battles between the regime and armed opposition forces.

The fighting continues to this day. It has left more than 220,000 people dead and displaced around 10 million Syrians from their homes, both internally and abroad, according to the UN.
