(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) handball team took time off from training to participate in activities organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
The team is in Qatar since July 27 for annual pre-season training tour, hosted by QTA.
In four groups, the players went on to discover the Qatar of the future and took part in tourist activities around innovation and new technologies.
The tourist break also provided the players with opportunity to forge stronger team spirit and integrate newcomers into the team.
Thierry Omeyer, Fahrudin Melic, Daniel Narcisse and Nikola Karabatic took advantage of the break to discover a new sporting scene in a unique place - horse riding in Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).
It is one of the most modern stables in the world and a tribute to the Arabian horse and tradition of equestrian excellence.
After a visit to the breeding department where Arabian pure-bred horses are preserved along with the tradition, the players on a carriage toured the venue, from Equine Academy to Endurance Training Centre, passing through the historic Ottoman-era stables.
William Accambray, Jeffrey M'Tima, Sergiy Onufrienko and Igor Vori explored Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), also a QF member and an incubator for many of Qatar's technological research projects and developments.
After touring facilities and labs, the players went to Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre (QRSC) that offers training through surgical simulation and assisted procedures.
The Parisians saw the dexterity required for robotic surgery, thanks to the simulator.
Patrice Annonay, Xavier Barachet and new recruits Luka Karabatic and Henrik Mollgaard had an artistic afternoon at Mathaf - Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha. After a tour of exhibitions featuring the best of modern and contemporary art of the Arab world, the players took part in the creation of a digital fresco. Equipped with digital pens and in teams of two, they expressed artistic talent and tried to reproduce one of the pieces of art.
At Msheireb Enrichment Centre, an education portal showcasing Qatar's past and ambitions for the future, Luc Abalo, Robert Gunnarsson, Mikkel Hansen and Samuel Honrubia embarked on a journey through time, exploring the past, present and future of Qatar's architecture.
The players were then taken to Doha Fire Station, a former firehouse and now a studio for artists that hosts local talent, helping them develop art.
Using a connected object that creates music from body movements, the players took time out to try to compose music.
