Oman- 991,000 tourists visit sultanate till May: NCSI


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The number of inbound tourists to the sultanate reached around 991000 till the end of May this year according to the Tourism Indicators report issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

GCC visitors topped the list with 313679 followed by 112616 from India 68566 from Britain and 59679 from Germany.

The statistics also show that the number of outbound visitors reached 2056000.

The number of inbound visitors during May was 176000 with an increase rate of 0.5 per cent compared to the figures recorded during same period last year.

May also witnessed the departure of 437000 outbound visitors witnessing an increase of 13.5 per cent compared to the figures recorded during the same period previous year. 

The number of tourists arriving on cruise ships till the end of May this year reached 97000. Of these Europeans accounted for the majority of the visitors with 67 per cent. The number of tourists arriving on cruise ships in May reached 8447.

Americans constituted 41.1 per cent of such visitors. The incoming cruise ships during May increased by 3.7 per cent compared to the figures recorded in April this year. 

Meanwhile revenues of three four and five star hotels reached RO87308000 till the end of May this year. The number of guests at hotels touched 499646.
