4.3 magnitude earthquake hits Dead Sea area


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) An earthquake with its epicenter in the Dead Sea region was recorded on Thursday, but no damage or casualties were reported.

Jordanian News Agency, Petra, quoted Jordan Seismological Observatory as saying, that the 3.8 magnitude earthquake, centered at a depth of 10 kilometers, occurred at 5:39 am, noting that it was felt in the western regions in central and southern Jordan.

Seismic activity is normal in the Jordan Rift Valley area, which extends from northern Jordan down to the Dead Sea and is part of the Great Rift Valley that stretches from the Taurus Mountains of Turkey down to the Zambezi Valley in southern Africa, according to Petra.
