Japan stocks lower at close of trade Nikkei 225 down 0.13%


(MENAFN- FxPro) Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Electrical/Machinery and Machinery sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NTT Data Corp. (TOKYO:9613), which rose 3.51% or 200.0 points to trade at 5900.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5214) added 3.47% or 20.0 points to end at 597.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911) was up 3.13% or 92.0 points to 3035.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TOKYO:8035), which fell 11.44% or 851.0 points to trade at 6590.0 at the close. Fanuc Corp. (TOKYO:6954) declined 10.66% or 2470.0 points to end at 20700.0 and Advantest Corp. (TOKYO:6857) was down 7.81% or 90.0 points to 1062.0.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 990 to 887 and 1 ended unchanged.

Shares in NTT Data Corp. (TOKYO:9613) rose to 3-years highs; up 3.51% or 200.0 to 5900.0. Shares in Advantest Corp. (TOKYO:6857) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.81% or 90.0 to 1062.0.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.23% to 19.01.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.30% or 0.14 to $47.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.30% or 0.16 to hit $53.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1097.30 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 123.64, while EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 136.57.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.87.
