(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The Qatari government on Tuesday declared its support for recent measures adopted by Turkey with the stated aim of protecting its borders and national security, according to Qatar's official news agency.
"Qatar's support for Turkey stems from its consistent stance against violence and terrorism," Qatar's Foreign Ministry said in a statement published by the news agency.
The ministry went on to condemn the "criminal" attacks that Turkey had witnessed in recent days in which a number of civilians and security forces had been killed.
Turkey is currently reeling from a string of recent attacks blamed on the Daesh militant group and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
The latest wave of violence began on July 20 when 32 people were killed in Turkey's southern Sanliurfa province in a suicide attack that has been blamed on Daesh.
In the one week since, Turkey has carried out a massive arrest campaign targeting members of both groups, while also carrying out airstrikes against Daesh and PKK targets in Syria and Iraq respectively.
