At least 19 Egyptian workers killed in Cairo blaze

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) At least 19 workers were killed on Tuesday when a massive fire tore through an eastern district of Cairo, according to a health ministry spokesman.
"Another 22 people were injured in the fire, which gutted a timber factory in eastern Cairo's Al-Obour City," ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told Anadolu Agency.

The spokesman said the death toll could be expected to rise further as civil defense personnel and firefighters struggled to extinguish the blaze.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire began after a gas cylinder exploded as it was being carried by workers.
